Our internal medicine team makes up about 25% of our large physician-owned multi-specialty medical clinic. At our "South" clinic, we have three internal medicine physicians, six family medicine physicians, one behavioral health consultant/LCSW and a busy urgent care. Our other specialties (located nearby) include general surgery and a OB/GYN team.
We use the EPIC for our EMR, Nuance/Dragon for dictation and DAX CoPilot AI for note building. We have a long history in our community (99 years and counting) and have always been on the cutting-edge for adopting new technology and processes.
We have onsite lab specimen collection and waived testing. Our couriers transport all other specimens to our "Main Clinic" hourly for processing in our CLIA-licensed high complexity laboratory. We use Siemens for our major chemistry instrumentation and perform more than 80% of our testing in-house with impressive turnaround times. Our lab team also performs EKGs and places Holter monitors. Our medical laboratory
scientists are only a phone call away to help with order selection or to deliver critical values.
We have onsite general x-ray, with access to CT, MRI, ultrasound, mammography, bone densitometry and more at our other locations.. We have in-depth processes and standing orders in place for imaging staff to follow positive breast cancer and lung cancer findings through to treatment and follow-up.
Our entire multi-specialty clinic is collegial and friendly. Our entire partnership gathers for a catered lunch meeting three times a month with individual departments meeting once monthly.
Our IM providers have a good amount of control of their schedules, from start and end times to limiting the quantity of certain types of appointments daily and when or whether they want to do telehealth visits. Each
provider has a primary assistant and is supported by float nursing staff and administrative assistants. Each provider has their own office and three exam rooms, with access to two shared procedure rooms.

Compensation & Partnership
We offer a comprehensive benefits package and a competitive income guarantee, with rapid incorporation into the physician production compensation formula and partnership opportunities after one year. There are many leadership opportunities and other opportunities to get involved.
Medical, dental, and vision insurance are provided for physicians and their families. Disability insurances (short and long-term) cover 60% of annual gross income. $50,000 of life insurance is provided, with options to purchase more. Malpractice insurance covers $2M/$5M. Dues/memberships/licenses covered. Six weeks of vacation/sick leave and two weeks of CME for partner physicians. 401K begins at 12 months. Moving allowance available.
Size and Structure
Salem Clinic is a physician and surgeon owned large group medical practice with 50+ providers working from four locations, alongside our 500+ staff. Our specialties include: family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery, urgent care, and behavioral health. Our Board of Directors is comprised of seven actively practicing owner physicians, representing both primary and specialty care. Our administrator works with the board and provides operational leadership for the organization. There are two associate administrators and nine department directors. Our support departments include:
- Laboratory - providing a robust testing menu to aid in diagnosis and treatment decisions
- Imaging - providing several modalities (MRI, CT, US, X-Ray, Echo, Mammography, etc.) to support diagnosis and treatment decisions
- Information Systems - providing network, software and hardware support
- Electronic Health Records - providing EPIC build, training and workflow efficiencies support
- Coding - providing documentation review to ensure proper coding and reimbursement
- Nursing - providing triage, telephone advice, rooming, and general medical assisting
- Comprehensive Care Coordination - providing outreach and continuous support to select patient populations, including high ED utilizers and recent hospital discharges
- Patient Service - providing patient check-in, as well as scheduling and messaging through our call center
- Health Information Management - providing record indexing, ensuring consistency and accuracy of record locations
- Health Plan Services - providing registration and billing support, accounting collections and prior authorization and referrals processing
Work-Life Balance
Full-time physicians in primary care work 4.5 days per week, with an option to work 4 days after partnership. The percentage of call varies slightly by department, but all ratios are excellent. Call for our primary care providers is evening and overnight by telephone, and only 2-3 times monthly. The Epic EMR is accessible remotely from home or mobile devices. Each PCP has 1-2 colleagues in their care team who help to cover messages and needs for your patients when you are out of the office. Our urgent care clinics have same-day scheduled and walk-in appointment slots. Our urgent care clinics operate from 10-7 on weekdays and 10-5 on weekends, only closing on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
