Summary
Provides primary and appropriate specialized health care services to hospital and clinic patients. Performs examinations and provides treatment to minor/routine problems; performs or orders diagnostic test; establishes diagnosis; prescribes medication; instructs patients and family members about continuing care.
Position Reports To: Practice Manager
Essential Functions
- Provide primary and specialized health care to patients. Examination, diagnosis, and treatment of both chronic and acute episodic illnesses and minor injuries. Refers to physician as needed.
- Writes prescriptions and performs office procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment.
- Educates patients and families and helps them understand issues related to physical and emotional health.
- Participates in health promotional activities.
- Participates in decisions, planning, and policies related to clinical care.
- Maintains accurate and complete patient records in compliance with organizational policy.
- Refers patients to specialty services when appropriate.
- Provides professional medical services within the scope of training and responsibility, in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and organizational policies.
- Support physicians with on-call responsibilities.
- Records statistics and conducts research as deemed necessary.
- Collaborates with staff and physicians to identify patient’s needs and help develop plan to meet those needs.
- Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required:
- Active Registered Nurse and ARNP licensure with prescriptive authority in the state of Washington, required by start date.

WWAMI is a partnership between the University of Washington School of Medicine and the states of Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho (the first letter of each state forms the acronym "WWAMI"). This partnership allows for the rapid diagnosis and treatment of all types of strokes, and it also provides immediate transport to a level-1 comprehensive stroke center while allowing the majority of North Central Washington patients to remain at our local, level-2 primary stroke center.
The WRITE Program is a clinical medical education program developed by the University of Washington School of Medicine to help meet the need for rural primary care physicians in the WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho). The Moses Lake Campus of Confluence Health is one of the training campuses for the WRITE Program. This opportunity provides selected third-year medical students an appropriate mix of ambulatory and hospital experience during a 20-week clinical education experience at a rural primary care teaching site.
