Department Overview
The Division of Vascular Surgery at OHSU provides excellent patient care while maintaining educational and research-rich programs that train surgeons and researchers and enhance their understanding of the vascular system. A special interest in quality outcomes and measurement drives much of the division's research they offer a 2-year vascular and endovascular surgery fellowship as well as an integrated residency program. OHSU’s vascular surgeons operate out of the Knight Cardiovascular Institute.
The Vascular Surgeon is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with vascular disease using both open surgical and minimally invasive endovascular techniques. The surgeon will provide comprehensive care for patients with arterial, aortic, and venous disorders across ambulatory, wound care, inpatient, and operative settings. Working collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals, the surgeon will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while advancing clinical outcomes, patient safety, and the overall patient experience.
The surgeon will help lead the development and growth of a multidisciplinary Limb Preservation Program at OHSU, fostering collaboration across specialties to improve limb salvage rates, enhance quality of care, expand access to specialized vascular services, and advance innovation in limb preservation throughout the region.
In addition, the physician will serve as the Division's Quality Medical Director and Medical Director for the Vascular Laboratory Program. In these leadership roles, the physician will provide strategic oversight of quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives; partner with departmental and hospital leadership to strengthen morbidity and mortality review processes; ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards; and promote a culture of continuous quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical excellence across the vascular surgery division.
The physician will also contribute to the academic mission of OHSU through teaching, mentorship, clinical research, and scholarly activity, supporting the education and development of medical students, residents, fellows, and other healthcare professionals.

Function/Duties of Position
- Diagnose and treat a full spectrum of vascular conditions, including peripheral arterial disease, carotid artery disease, aortic pathology, venous disease, dialysis access needs, and chronic limb-threatening ischemia.
- Perform open vascular surgical procedures and endovascular interventions.
- Evaluate and treat patients across inpatient, outpatient, operative, wound care, and emergency settings, ensuring continuity of care throughout the treatment process.
- Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based practices.
- Lead the management of patients with peripheral arterial disease and chronic limb-threatening ischemia, utilizing advanced revascularization techniques, wound management strategies, and multidisciplinary approaches to maximize limb salvage and preservation.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, wound care specialists, podiatrists, rehabilitation services, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and growth of OHSU's multidisciplinary Limb Preservation Program, advancing best practices, improving access to specialized care, and enhancing patient outcomes.
- Provide expert consultation and vascular surgery services to referring physicians, healthcare providers, and regional partners.
- Participate in assigned call coverage and ensure timely management of urgent and emergent vascular conditions.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely clinical documentation in accordance with organizational, regulatory, and billing requirements.
- Serve as the Division's Quality Medical Director and Medical Director for the Vascular Laboratory Program, leading strategic quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives; ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards; and fostering a culture of clinical excellence across the vascular surgery division
- Lead and facilitate division-wide quality improvement efforts, utilizing data-driven approaches to improve clinical outcomes, patient experience, operational efficiency, and adherence to evidence-based care standards.
- Partner with departmental and institutional quality leadership to strengthen morbidity and mortality review processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement, patient safety, accountability, and clinical excellence through multidisciplinary collaboration, education, and performance monitoring.
- Support and participate in quality improvement, patient safety, clinical research, and performance excellence initiatives. Engage in medical staff activities, committee service, educational programs, and other institutional initiatives that support OHSU's clinical, academic, and strategic missions.

- Board Certified or Board Eligible
- Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) certification
- Current Oregon State Medical License
- Receipt of medical staff privileges at OHSU
