The Oregon Layton Aging & Alzheimer’s Disease Center (OADC) closely integrates its clinical mission with its designation as an NIA-funded Oregon Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (OADRC). Geriatric neurology and psychiatry fellows also contribute to the clinical team.
This highly experienced specialty team is widely recognized across the Portland metropolitan area, the state of Oregon, and the Pacific Northwest. Patients are typically referred for evaluation of adult onset cognitive disorders, diagnostic clarification, treatment recommendations and implementation, and information regarding clinical trial opportunities. Applicants are expected to demonstrate expertise in the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative dementias, and initiate monoclonal antibody treatments, as clinically appropriate.
Given the growing demand for services, appointments are available by referral from neurologists and related specialists. As part of the OADRC research process, new patients are presented at a weekly team meeting where cases are reviewed and standardized diagnosis are assigned.
