The Department of Ophthalmology at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center supports a large health system providing both primary and tertiary care. The advertised position is responsible for direct patient care and supervision at our downtown VCU Health campus and satellite locations. Excellent diagnostic and surgical skills are required. The department supports a 16 resident ophthalmology training program with a full 5-year ACGME Accreditation.
The successful candidate must maintain high clinical and ethical standards that will be carried into decision-making processes, adhere to compliance measures, establish and promote an atmosphere of unity through collaborative practice and effective communication between all staff disciplines, and foster a high level of patient and staff satisfaction. Residents and certified ophthalmic medical technicians assist with patient care and ancillary testing. A Physician Practice Group compensation plan provides an opportunity for a competitive salary. Appointment at the level of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor is available commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications
- Candidate must be Board Certified/Board Eligible/On Pathway toward Board Certification in Ophthalmology and have completed residency training in ophthalmology.
- Must possess/maintain a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Virginia.
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
The salary range for this role is $271,590 to $598,069 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate's experience, credentials, specialty expertise, and faculty rank.
