About Dr. Awar and the Practice
Dr. Awar brings 20 years of experience in cardiovascular medicine, with a special interest in complex coronary, limb and aortic interventions that minimize the need for open surgery. He believes every patient should be given the chance for a minimally invasive repair, if feasible. He earned his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland, completed his internal medicine residency at Indiana University, and completed his general and interventional cardiology fellowships at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, followed by further training in structural heart disease and complex venous interventions. He established the most comprehensive vein clinic in Yuma.
The practice offers a full range of cardiovascular care:
- Diagnostic testing: echocardiography (including transesophageal echo), exercise and nuclear stress testing, Holter monitoring, and in-office arterial, venous, carotid and aortic ultrasound
- Devices: loop recorders, pacemakers and automatic defibrillators
- Interventional and structural procedures: coronary angiography, carotid angioplasty and stenting, TAVR, EVAR and left atrial appendage closure
- Vein Clinic (established 2014): thermal ablation, vein closure, microphlebectomy and ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy
