Position Overview

St. Charles Medical Group is seeking a Family Medicine Physician to join St. Charles Family Care at the Bend East Clinic in Bend, Oregon. This outpatient primary care role provides continuing, comprehensive care for individuals and families across all ages, sexes, genders, organ systems and disease entities, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and appropriate basic surgical care.

The clinic is a robust outpatient primary care practice with embedded behavioral health, clinical pharmacy, population health and care management. You will be part of St. Charles Medical Group, a comprehensive network of more than 250 providers covering a complete range of primary care and more than 20 subspecialties. New and early-career physicians are welcome: the role requires 0–2 years of post-residency experience.


Work Schedule & Call Expectations

  • Minimum of 40 hours per week, with 36 hours of direct patient contact and the remainder for administrative patient care tasks (chart notes, phone calls, medication refills, test results)
  • Scheduled days may vary depending on clinic operating days and hours
  • Participation in the clinic call rotation, which may include days, evenings, weekends and holidays, scheduled in coordination with the call group
  • Back-up and expertise support for APPs when they are on call, as needed

Key Responsibilities

  • Practice evidence-based Family Medicine across diagnosis, definitive and supportive treatment, follow-up care, health promotion and illness prevention
  • Align treatment goals with patient values; create treatment plans that incorporate therapy, medication, nutritional changes or surgery
  • Monitor patient recovery and refer to specialists based on progress and condition
  • Coordinate medical, surgical, ancillary, nursing and other services for the best and most cost-effective outcomes
  • Perform procedures commensurate with your competencies
  • Collaborate with the SCMG Family Medicine care team, specialty care teams and referring providers
  • Prescribe medications and accurately document, code and bill for all care in the EHR in a timely manner
  • Review and approve APP chart notes as needed
  • Support the delivery, measurement and improvement of quality health measures and Lean-based continuous improvement

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduation from an accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical school
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in the physician’s chosen specialty

Licensure & Certification

  • Current MD / DO license; Oregon license preferred
  • Board certified or board eligible; those not yet certified must become board certified within seven years of completing residency or fellowship
  • Unrestricted Federal DEA number (registered in Oregon preferred)
  • Current BLS certification; ACLS also required if practicing moderate or deep sedation
  • Unrestricted ability to participate in Medicare / Medicaid and other government health care programs
  • Valid driver’s license

Experience

  • 0–2 years of post-residency experience in Family Medicine required; 2+ years preferred
  • Experience using EHR software; Epic experience preferred
  • Experience in both inpatient and outpatient practice environments preferred
  • Familiarity with the Medical Home Care model preferred
  • Knowledge of quality measures, data collection and outcome improvement preferred
  • Experience providing, documenting and billing Annual Medicare Wellness Visits preferred
