Position Overview
St. Charles Health System is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider – Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation to join the Physiatry department within St. Charles Orthopedics & Neurosurgery in Bend, Oregon. This is a primarily clinic-based role in which you will see your own independent panel of patients and provide a robust suite of physiatry care.
Some appointments include screening, assessment, and management of patients with concussions as part of the overall concussion management clinic. You will work closely with the orthopedic and physiatry departments to shape care pathways for patients who need specialized care, as part of a service line of approximately 60 providers.
Work Schedule
- Minimum of 40 hours per week, including a minimum of 36 hours of patient contact time
- Regular, exempt position
- Independent clinic schedule, including clinical documentation and related duties
Key Responsibilities
- See an independent panel of patients in clinic to provide physiatry care
- Screen, assess, and manage patients with concussions as part of the concussion management clinic
- Collaborate with the orthopedic and physiatry departments on care pathways for patients needing specialized care
- Exercise judgment on conditions requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by an orthopedic surgeon, neurosurgeon, or other health care professionals
- Order appropriate diagnostic testing when needed
- Educate, counsel, and support patients and families on current health problems, health maintenance, and prevention
- Document all patient care in the EMR to support timely and accurate billing
- Participate in team meetings and help develop policy and clinical practice guidelines
Qualifications
Education
- Successful completion of an approved Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program, with certification appropriate to license
- Ongoing CME as required to maintain licensure and board certification
Licensure & Certification
- Unrestricted Oregon PA and/or NP license
- PA: NCCPA certification and ability to establish and maintain a Collaborative Practice Agreement with a Supervising Physician through OMB
- NP: certification through AANC, NCC or AANP, AMCB
- Unrestricted Federal DEA registered in Oregon
- Unrestricted ability to participate in Medicare, Medicaid, and other government health care programs
- Current BLS certification
- Preferred: Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician Assistant Certification
Experience
- Experience using EMR software (required); Epic experience preferred
- Experience working in a team environment and building consensus among health care professionals (required)
- Prior experience in physiatry or a related medical specialty preferred

About the Practice
The Orthopedic, Neurosurgery & Physiatry Service Line at St. Charles Health System provides ambulatory, procedural, and inpatient care across the health system and within ambulatory surgery centers. The service line includes approximately 60 providers representing the full spectrum of neuromusculoskeletal care, and collaborates with the Bend hospital-based acute surgery and trauma team on a trauma program designed to meet the growing needs of the Central Oregon community.
