Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine Physician - Lynchburg

Centra Medical Group is seeking a Pulmonary/Sleep Medicine Physician to join our collaborative, established team in Lynchburg, Virginia. Build a practice that blends Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine with limited Critical Care coverage, supported by an experienced team of physicians and APPs and the resources of a comprehensive regional health system.

Our program offers broad clinical depth and advanced capabilities, including ION robotic bronchoscopy, an interventional bronchoscopy program, an AASM-accredited Sleep Medicine program with home and in-lab testing, Inspire therapy for obstructive sleep apnea, and a PHA-accredited Pulmonary Hypertension program. Physicians care for patients across the spectrum of pulmonary and sleep medicine, including interstitial lung disease, asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis, lung nodules and lung cancer, pulmonary hypertension, and sleep disorders.

Centra Medical Group (CMG) is a comprehensive network of nearly 600 employed providers within Centra Health. Centra Health services a population of 600,000 community members with 70 different outpatient and specialty practices. Centra offers primary care and specialty services across Central and Southern Virginia—from Lynchburg to Danville, Farmville, Moneta, and Bedford. CMG includes family practices, specialists, and surgeons in fields such as cardiology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, urology, and more.

CMG is also home to the Lynchburg Family Medicine Residency, a training program for future family physicians, many of whom hold academic appointments with institutions like UVA, VCU, VCOM, and Liberty University.

Responsibilities

You Can Expect:

• Primarily outpatient with participation in a rotating inpatient pulmonary consult schedule
• Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine focus with a mix of outpatient, inpatient, and limited Critical Care responsibilities
• Approximately 3 weeks of clinic and 4 shifts of ICU coverage per month
• Robust Sleep Medicine program
• Rotating inpatient Pulmonary consult coverage with APP support
• Limited overnight burden: one third of ICU shifts will be night shifts. Pulmonary call is phone coverage only
• Weekend Pulmonary consult shifts shared equally, approximately 1:7–1:8, rounding alongside an APP
• Advanced pulmonary capabilities including ION robotic bronchoscopy and multidisciplinary care through Centra's PHA-accredited Pulmonary Hypertension program
• Established 19 Pulmonary and Sleep team including 9 physicians and 10 APPs

Qualifications

• Completion of a sleep medicine fellowship with board certification/eligibility is desirable.
• Candidates wishing to practice critical care must also be board certified/eligible in critical care medicine.
• Completion of a Pulmonary fellowship or combined Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship
• Completion of medical degree and residency/fellowship training in Internal Medicine/Pulmonology.
