NorthBay Health is Solano County's own healthcare provider — an independent, locally managed nonprofit health system founded in 1959 by a team of civic leaders and physicians. Today NorthBay serves Solano, Napa and Yolo counties with two hospitals, NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield (home to the region's Level II Trauma Center and a neonatal intensive care unit) and NorthBay VacaValley Hospital in Vacaville, along with the Surgery Center at VacaValley, a comprehensive cancer center, urgent care locations and a growing network of primary and specialty care clinics. NorthBay is a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, a co-founder of the nonprofit health plan Western Health Advantage, and holds Magnet with Distinction recognition for nursing.

The NorthBay Health Medical Group is a multi-specialty group of more than 100 providers — primary care physicians, specialists and Advanced Health Practitioners — practicing across more than 25 locations. Clinicians are supported by extensive clinical care teams that include RNs, medical assistants, patient service representatives, behavioral health professionals and Advanced Health Practitioners, with onsite phlebotomy and radiology in the Centers for Primary Care, so physicians can focus on practicing medicine. A hospitalist program cares for unassigned inpatients, and NorthBay has a long partnership with David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base, where military providers can practice part-time and often join full-time after service.

Physicians practice under a Professional Services Agreement designed for independence and collaboration, with an income guarantee, a work RVU incentive, quality incentives, compensation for APP supervision, and one-time payments such as sign-on bonuses, relocation and tail coverage.
